About the processing plant:

• Crushing: Technologies in this area include 4 x in-pit 63’’ Primary Gyratory Crushers, 4 x 2.5 MW Cone Secondary Cone Crushers and 4 x 1 MW Pebble Crushers.

• Milling: Technologies in this area include 3 x gearless 40’ SAG mills operating in SABC mode with associated 26’ Ball mills; installed milling power is 150 MW.

• Gold: Technologies in this area include gravity concentrators, magnetic separators, shaking tables, calcination and smelting to produce gold - silver bullion.

• Concentrator (Copper & Molybdenum): Technologies is this area include large-scale conventional flotation plant (600m3 cells), column flotation (5m diameter), 3 x 5 MW vertical stirred re-grinding mills, large conventional thickeners and pressure filters.

• Services: Technologies in this area include the Reagent Management area and multiple site services including the water balance.

Key Accountabilities and Challenges

  • Ensure that the operational, technical team and maintenance teams are competent on optimal use of the Thermofisher Online Analyser within the 2-year ramp- up period
  • Provide effective on the job training for the metallurgists, maintenance, samplers and field operators
  • Development of start-up and ramp-up operational strategy for the Thermo Scientific equipment’s
  • KPI establishment and tracking system
  • Development and implementation of operations monitoring system/tools for the equipment and its related auxiliaries (to monitor process parameters, equipment behaviour, availability, and utilization)
  • Development of standard operating and maintenance procedures
  • Supervision of routine work and preventive maintenance activities
  • Development of preventative maintenance tasks
  • Fault analysis and troubleshooting of equipment breakdowns and shortfalls from design
  • Ensure use of, and responsiveness of, OEM back-office capabilities (supply, technical, administrative…) in support of troubleshooting activities
  • X-Ray spectrum adjustment and standardization
  • Establish calibration requirements and frequencies of specialized maintenance
  • Calibration curves development and modifications
  • Operational and equipment communication review (alerts and alarms)
  • Sample cutter setups and frequency adjustments
  • Development of actions required on operational emergencies (in case of bad operation or erroneous readings)
  • Perform technical on-site repair and service work
  • Ensure that all reporting of the area is completed and distributed to relevant areas
  • Act according to FQM Way culture - "Smarter, Bolder, Driven, Together"
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Chief Metallurgist

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

  • Education
    • A relevant qualification in Mineral Processing or related field highly regarded.
  • Skills
    • Strong training, communication, and interpersonal skills
    • Strong customer support skills
    • Strong drive and personal sense of accountability
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and able to assemble and impart training materials
    • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment
  • Experience
    • Minimum of 5 years of direct experience in specific plant equipment (installation and commissioning of MSA and Anstat)
    • Minimum 5 years of training & development experience.
  • Language
    • Fluency in Spanish is required and competency in English highly regarded.
