With a strategic plan to produce more than 1 million tonnes per annum of copper within five years, the Company is poised to become the largest, widely-held pure-play copper producer and one of the top five copper producers in the world.
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Geologist to join the team. The role will involve liaison with drilling and mining contractors, tenement management and budget control. Key accountabilities include leadership of the Resource Definition and Mine Geology team to ensure the safe operation of geological and drilling personnel, activities, and equipment, in line with FQM policy, procedures and Mine Management Plan.
As the successful candidate you will be able to implement and continually improve ore control and resource delineation systems within the overall mine plan. You will strive to continuously advance the geological understanding of deposits by building geological models that reflect the unique geochemical properties of each area. You will also be able to coach and mentor geology team members, as well as achieve budget costs and KPI targets.
Maximising productivity and performance using efficient geological protocols will be a primary focus. You will promote the development of innovative solutions and continuous improvement by leading and motivating your team to produce high quality work cost efficiently.
The successful candidate will possess:
- Degree qualification in Geology
- At least 8-10 years industry experience
- Sound background in mining operations, drilling, resource and grade control modelling/estimation
- Proven leadership skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Advanced Computer skills essential, Surpac, Arc GIS and Datashed skills will be highly regarded.
This position is a permanent full-time residential role living in the scenic coastal township of Hopetoun or Ravensthorpe on a Monday to Friday roster. Relocation to Hopetoun /Ravensthorpe and subsidised company housing may be offered. FIFO or DIDO may be considered on a 14/7 roster for the right candidate.
