Providing technical expertise:
The incumbent will be accountable to develop the on the job skills within their relevant team, the primary focus is to support the technical training by ensuring quality work practises are embedded in the tradespeople that they are mentoring. The incumbent has the responsibility to ensure that safety is the priority of all work undertaken at all times and to reinforce best practice maintenance standards.
The process of mentoring and assisting the trades people on the floor in the areas of quality inspections, defect identification, troubleshooting and diagnosis, adjusting, preventive maintenance and major maintenance change outs. Solid knowledge of hydraulic systems, power shift transmissions, electronic engine troubleshooting and diagnosis is essential. Understanding and exposure to major mining maintenance practices is critical to ensure that these practices are embedded into the daily routines of all personnel on the workshop floor.
Participate in the regular reviews of each team’s skills matrix and recommend training for individual based upon recognised shortfalls in the on job performance or perceived gaps in skills
This position is responsible for maintaining product safety, legality and quality.
Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in a mine or manufacturing environment operating equipment and able to transfer knowledge.
Auxiliary Equipment knowledge: Heavy earth moving, mining - at least 10 years’ experience on maintaining excavators, graders, trucks, etc.
