Duties and Responsabilities:

  • Organize the shift of Lead Fireman and Firemen, assign and supervise the maintenance of the shift schedules.
  • To be On share standby with ERT Superintendent and the other Senior Fire Officer
  • Maintain discipline, ensure established company Emergency Response practices and procedures are upheld.
  • Receive and transmit orders and information to the ERT Officers whether written or oral.
  • Review records of the testing and care of equipment, make recommendations on repair or replacement.
  • Requisition supplies and keep related records.
  • Maintain records of Emergency Response Equipment including Fixed Fire protection, Fire Extinguishers, First Aid, communication and Emergency vehicles and Rescue Equipment
  • Maintenance of high standard of fitness in the Emergency Response teams.
  • Deliver the training programme on a regular basis and complete reports on each session.
  • Participate in the development of incident simulations and preparedness drills. 
  • Maintain records and make reports of all fire prevention inspections.
  • Undertake Fire risk assessments before commencement of works as required. 
  • Respond to fire alarms and direct emergency operations
  • Direct the return of all apparatus and equipment.
  • Perform related work as required.
     
    Qualifications and Experience Requirements
  • Grade 12 or equivalent certificate/ passed Fire Service Statutory Examinations Leading Fire-Fighter or Sub/Officers.
  • Having completed Fire Prevention and Breathing Apparatus courses.
  • Advanced First Aid / Basic Life Support Certificates.
  • Holder of Class C Drivers Licence.
  • Able to command and control Emergency Response teams.
  • Experience in Fire ground / Rescue Operation Procedures.
  • Experience in Emergency Management and disaster Preparedness.
  • Be Computer literate with good command of both Oral and written English.
  • Basic training and knowledge on Emergency Respond for Radiological incident
  • Qualified on NFPA regulations applicable in National Regulations for Public Building and Industrial Installations. 

Language:

  • English speaking an advantage
