We are looking for Supervisor Treatment Plants (Water & Waste) for our Project Cobre Panama

Key Accountabilities and Challenges

  • Operate within and observe all relevant and applicable laws of Panama
  • Through personal standards, maintain an emphasis on safety, environmental responsibility and operational responsibility
  • Provide direct supervision to a multi-disciplinary team of operators and maintainers
  • Personnel monitoring, control and allocation of daily tasks
  • Identify personnel training requirements and worker skills required to complete current and future tasks
  • Work closely with the planning team to ensure work schedules and resources are aligned to complete the work in an efficient manner
  • Responsible for ensuring all work is performed to the set standard of the company and compliant with all compliance obligations, regulations and industry best practice standards
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects, identify opportunities and analysis for areas to improve infrastructure performance
  • Assist with ordering and securing resources for maintenance work including liaising with suppliers
  • Assign scheduled and un-scheduled work tasks to the team to provide the best performance of the equipment
  • Maintain the work order system within the ERP system
  • Raise stock and purchase requisitions
  • Contribute to the development and use of work scopes, parts material lists and other support documents used for maintenance activities
  • Promoting a culture to ensure full compliance with all applicable safety standards
  • Provide technical support for personnel on a daily basis to maximize effectiveness, efficiencies and optimize costs
  • Identify, participate in and promote continuous improvement processes
  • Implement FQM Way culture across the team – “Smarter, Bolder, Driven, Together”
  • Liaising with peers and colleagues to enable the above
  • Know and comply with the Safety and Occupational Health Regulations in Mining, Internal Work Rules, Code of Ethics and Conduct, Loss Prevention Manual
  • The responsibilities described above are the main responsibilities of the position. The position also develops other activities that are not included in this document and the immediate supervisor is in charge of transmitting them

Skills, Knowledge & Experience


  • Engineering Qualification or related Trade Certificate
  • 10+ years industry experience in operating and maintain treatment plants


  • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good working knowledge of the industry standards for infrastructure requirements
  • Knowledge and technical competence in operating and maintaining treatment plants
  • Skill to understand and analyse performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Knowledge in the use of Enterprise Resource Planning systems (ERP)
  • Ability to work within a team environment
  • Team focus
  • Driver's license


  • Knowledge of JD Edwards or similar large enterprise systems
  • Experience operating and maintaining water and waste treatment plants
  • Experienced in the use of maintenance management systems


  • Fluency in Spanish is required with English language competency highly regarded
